NBU introduced a new commemorative coin
The National Bank of Ukraine has put into circulation a commemorative coin dedicated to the Vladimir Cathedral in Kyiv. We can say that this numismatic novelty has become a logical continuation of the series associated with the architectural monuments of Ukraine.

The obverse of the coin is decorated with an ornamental image of the main facade of the cathedral building. Below – the denomination and year of minting of the coin, as well as the logo of the National Bank Mint.

On the reverse, there is an ornamental element that can be found in the decoration of an architectural monument. The information component of this side of the coin is supplemented by the years of construction of the cathedral and the inscription with the name.

The artist Skoblikova Maria became the author of the sketch of the coin, and Andriyanov Vitaly was engaged in software modeling.

A series of commemorative and commemorative coins dedicated to the architectural monuments of Ukraine was founded by the National Bank in 2002. It includes coins associated with the country's iconic architectural structures – the Khan's Palace in Bakhchisarai, the Pochaev Lavra, the Golden Gate, the Church of St. Nicholas, Palanok Castle and others.

You can also find a commemorative coin of Ukraine on the Violity website in the subsection of the same name.

It is worth recalling that the Vladimir Cathedral was built in the neo-Byzantine style and is known for its unique interior painting. The construction of the temple took place from 1862 to 1882. Of these, the interior decoration took more than 10 years. And the painting of this architectural monument is largely considered its main value.

Wall paintings were created in the period from 1885 to 1869 by V.M. Vasnetsov, M.V. Nesterov, M.A. Vrubel, V.A. Kotarbinsky and others.
