Old things and dilapidated condition: in the UK, a 30-year-old house was sold for an unexpected sum

Old things and dilapidated condition: in the UK, a 30-year-old house was sold for an unexpected sum
The two-story home, built in 1990, was first listed for sale in June 2024. The starting price of the derelict building was just £1, and no one could have predicted that it would attract more than 90 people.

The house of 1990, over time robbed and abandoned, despite its condition, had many interesting things from the past. The two-storey building on Elswick Road consisted of a hall, staircase, lounge, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms. Almost the entire room was filled with broken furniture and garbage - fragments of sofas, chairs, shelves and other things of unknown origin.
In one room, a monitor from an old computer, more or less an entire sofa, old photos and books were preserved. In the kitchen, there were also things that were in good condition - a washing machine, a TV, a gas stove, etc. However, most of the things that could carry some value are almost destroyed by time.

Vinyl records, paintings, documents, magazines, even musical instruments — these and more were among the trash in this 34-year-old house.
However, the abandoned state of the building and the things available there, on the contrary, attracted the attention of potential buyers. And a month later, after being put up for sale with a starting price of £1, there were 98 people willing to become new owners. In the end, the buyer was a British man who laid out £100,000.

“We were very interested in the sale to the point that we ended the auction earlier than originally planned. The property sold for £100,000 with 98 bids,” said the Pattinson agency, which handled the bidding.
According to the agency's experts, potential buyers were interested in the house not only because it can be put in order during conversion and repair. Probably, this house hides many more secrets, especially when no one has lived there for decades. They are very interested in what the new owner will find in the old house.
